Vancouver Washington. Authorities said on Saturday a police officer who was investigating a series of robberies of armed robberies and a home invasion in Vancouver shot and killed a 16 year old suspect.
The teenager that was shot and killed by the Vancouver police was a suspect in a crime spree that happened on Friday.
A Vancouver police officer found 16 year old Douglas E. Combs and another teenager Friday evening and in the confrontation the police officer shot Combs killing him. Combs died at the scene from his gunshot wounds.
A statement from the Vancouver police says "During an attemped contact with two armed individuals. The circumstances of that contact resulted in a Vancouver police officer shooting of the one individuals, who died at the scene."
The second teenager who was also 16 years of age but his name was not released to the public due to his age was arrested on firearm charges.
Vancouver police said Combs was the suspect in a home invasion shooting and robbery of a convience store on Friday morning. The suspect also robbed a gasoline station Friday evening.
Vancouver police are not releasing the name of the police officer who shot and killed Combs. The police officer is on paid administrative leave according to protocol rules.
