The Bolshoi Theater is widely known throughout the world for its ballet. Many dancers and choreographers compete to work at the famous establishment. Sometimes, this healthy competition becomes unhealthy, as witnessed in the case of artistic director Sergey Filin.
Filin became the director two years ago in a heated competition. Apparently, this ballet beef wasn't settled because someone threw a bowl of acid into Filin's face Thursday evening in front of his home in Moscow.
A masked man yelled out his name and chased Filin with a bowl of acid. The man eventually caught up to Filin and threw the acid into his face. Filin is currently in the hospital with severe burns to his face and is at risk of losing vision in both of his eyes. Investigators in Moscow has linked what happened to Filin's professional work. Nobody has been arrested for the crime at this time.
Opinion: Ballet should never be taken this seriously. Generally, acid attacks are usually done by women attacking other women or by radical Muslims attacking women in Islamic countries that they claim are "out of line" with sharia law. That's how low this masked man dropped in this acid attack; he lowered himself to the level of a radical Muslim.
