Quezon Province, Philippines – Shooting incident last January 6, 2013 killed 13 persons in Atimonan, Quezon where most of them have bullet wounds in the head. Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Leila De Lima spearheaded the re-enactment of the shooting incident where two witnesses stated what they have seen on that fateful day. The witnesses are still under cover and under the witness protection program of the government. De Lima denied the idea that there was a shoot out instead she stated that what actually happened was an ambush.

Vic Siman one of those found dead with 5 bullet wounds and none in the head. He was believed to be a member of a gun for hire syndicate and “jueteng” or the local illegal numbers game. Thus, making Siman the primary target of the joint operations of the Philippine National Police (PNP) and Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP). There are speculations of overkill due to the numerous bullet holes found in the two vehicles where Siman and his companions were riding. The vehicles were stopped by armed PNP and AFP personnels and forced Siman and his companions to get off their vehicles. The witnesses stated that after a while the shooting ensued. AFP and PNP personnels then were heavily armed by rifles and high caliber guns.

The DOJ and the National Bureau of Investigation never stop to gather evidence and statements of witnesses.

Meanwhile, the Office of the President denied claims that the military operation done during that fateful day was approved by the President himself.
