Actoralways seems like a man who has his priorities straight – works out regularly and knows how to take care of himself and his family. Jackman is hardly one to make errant comments that might misguide his fans and the general public.
One such comment was made during his acceptance speech for winning Best Actor in a comedy or musical for film Les Miserables at the 70th Annual Golden Globes Awards on Jan. 13, 2013, where he boldly and bravely stated: “Sorry, I’m at the tail end of this flu and I was kicking myself for not getting the flu shot ... but it appears actually you don’t need one. I feel great!”
Turns out that the Center for Disease Control (CDC) has countered that well-intentioned advice from Jackman by getting a rep, advises TMZ, to say that they don’t “know if he really meant that vaccination was not a good thing to do, but each year millions become ill with influenza; more than 200,000 may be hospitalized; and between 3,000 and 49,000 will die.”
Are these fatality figures referring to the only very “at high-risk” individuals susceptible to die from contracting the flu such as the very old, the very young and those with compromised immune systems?
The CDC also adds that: “The first and most important step in protecting against the flu is to get a flu vaccine each season.”
It’s also a well-know fact that vaccines, which includes flu shots, are great money-makers for the pharmaceutical industry…
Most people who get the flu shot report that they catch some form of influenza every season regardless of whether they got the shot because each year viruses mutate and it’s difficult to artificially protect one’s immune system by introducing other viruses into it via the flu shot – which gives you a flu as you build antibodies!
Others say that viruses such as those that cause the flu cannot be fought with antibiotics and flu shots – all you need is plenty of fluids, vitamin C and bed rest and staying away from others!
That wonderful high-protein elixir, chicken soup, also seems to do wonders to fight the flu, say others.
Makes sense that most people who get the flu via the flu shot and go to work or out in public because they think they’re now “protected,” tend to pass the virus onto others.
And then there’s that whole bit about “soft kill” via flu vaccination that many healthcare practitioners warn about that is highly controversial and best avoided in this discussion but perhaps worth looking into in great detail…
Flu shots – always a hot topic – and there’s a good reason why Hugh Jackman took the risk of ridicule and spread his message to avoid them!
