Michael Misick told the SIPT investigators present when he was arrested that he wanted to go home quickly and that he would waiver his rights and give up his asylum efforts all for a quick return home. Despite his pronouncement and his lawyers’ representations to Helen Garlick, he is left to languish in a Brazilian prison while Helen Garlick and her team of merry Englishmen bask in the limelight of Rip de Janeiro red light district. When ask why hasn’t Michael been brought home yet; the Helen Garlick and the incompetent AG come up with the same official line and that is the process of extradition has to take place. What a load of baloney coming from some one who is suppose to be an expert in extradition and the likes. Michael has asked to come home without delay, his family will assist in bring him home by providing a direct flight from Brazil to the Turks and Caicos Islands stopping only in the British Virgin Island for fuel. The only response they have gotten from Helen Garlick is that it can not be done so quickly. Expertise in the field differ, they are of the view that Helen Garlick should instruct the AG to remove the red alert and withdraw the temporary arrest warrant request that he made to the Brazilians; Michael can then be escorted by the Brazilian police put on a flight with his lawyers, family members and anyone Helen Garlick wish to travel along with him. The flight is relatively short, within eight hours of leaving Brazil he would be home in the Turks and Caicos Islands.

The lack of efforts on the part of the FCO, SIPT and the AG to bring Michael home quickly is causing the family of Mike Misick to speak out in their quest for justice concerning his present situation being imprisoned in Brazil. It is a fact the Brazilians will do whatever the UK want; the arrest of a Michael Misick while he was under protective status speaks volumes about the high level of Brazilian cooperation.

Helen Garlick and her crew were able to change the criminal code and the extradition laws in the Turks and Caicos Islands over night yet she wants us to believe that Michael cannot be brought home with our going through some elaborate process required by the Brazilians. His family says “hogwash”, there must be more going on than meets the eye; can Helen Garlick say why Michael Misick is being denied incoming calls from his 93 year old ailing mother, he has been in custody for six weeks and has not to this day afforded the opportunity to receive a simple telephone call from his mother.

Helen Garlick must know by now that the people of the Turks and Caicos are watching her every move; from where I stand her moves to date in the Michael Misick situation is below what is expected of someone who is chalk up to be a seasoned professional. She has made a series of mis-steps in the Michael Misick arrest saga:

1. She allowed her Brazilians counterparts to put a temporary detained person in a maximum security prison and in particular a prison that has been condemn as unfit for human occupation by the United Nation.

2. Secondly, she treated of the people of the TCI with grave disrespect in not informing them of the condition in which their former leader was detained (Helen Garlick may not like but there is nothing she can do to change the fact that Michael Misick was our leader);

3. She chase him around the globe for the better part of two years, now that she has him in custody and he has categorically and voluntarily express his desire to be brought home, she is finding all kind of what can only be describe as frivolous excuses why it can not be done quickly;

4. Finally; Helen Garlick must know by now that the people of the TCI are tired of her and her merry men, the shenanigans and abuses has cost SIPT the little good will they had among the TCI populous. A lot is riding on how she handles the return of Michael Misick she must be mindful of that; it appears that, this opportunity is being used by the FCO, the Governor, the AG and SIPT to extract revenge in one form or another. People are watching, the white folks got deals while the black folks are being strung up by a justices system that tailor made just to convict them.

It is understandable that Helen and her crew wish to have this investigation and prosecution go on for many more years so they can be assured a pay check; much to the detriment of healthcare, education and recreation facilities for the residence of the TCI.
