In the country of India, gang rape is becoming a troubling trend. The culture of rape within India was exposed to the entire world last month when a 23 year old medical student was raped on a bus in Delhi by a group of men while her male companion was severely beaten.
Fast forward to this month as six men were arrested in the town of Gurdaspur in the northern Indian state of Punjab. The details of this rape was similar to the one in Delhi. Two days ago, a 29 year old woman was kidnapped on a bus she was taking to visit her in-laws in Gurdaspur.
Instead of stopping at her destination, the driver went past her desired stop to an unknown location. Then, the driver and the conductor forced her off of a bus where she was raped by those two along with five other men.
At this time, six of the seven men have been arrested by authorities in India. One man is still on the run.
Opinion: The men in India need to stop gang raping women. If the men treated women properly, then they would not have to resort to rape as their only option of achieving sexual intercourse with a women.
Nevertheless, I do not see this rape culture going away any time soon within the country of India. We're talking about a country which does not have a civilized sewage system as witnessed by the thousands of people that urinate and defecate out in the open on a daily basis. Before the rape culture can be eliminated from society within India, the issue of uncleanliness must first be dealt with.
