United set to sign £12million Zaha
Wilfried Zaha is on the verge of joining Manchester United for £12million. Alex Ferguson’s side look to have beaten off Arsenal and Spurs in the race to sign the Crystal Palace whizkid. United have held talks with the Eagles over a deal which is believed to be worth an initial £8m, plus add-ons, and the promise of loan players to help the Championship side’s promotion bid. Ivory Coast-born Zaha made his international debut as a substitute in England’s 4-2 friendly defeat to Sweden last November. Both the Gunners and Tottenham had been keen on the 20-year-old winger. But United boss Fergie has been tracking Zaha for some time and looks to have finally got his man. It is understood Palace manager Ian Holloway, who has a close relationship with Ferguson, believes United’s deal to be the best on offer. And it could finally be rubber-stamped in the next few days.
The Guardian claims rival fans from Liverpool and United will work together with other trusts and the Football Supporters' Federation to campaign for a maximum away ticket price in the Premier League, following Manchester City's decision to send back a third of their allocation for Sunday's match at Arsenal.
On a lighter note, the Daily Mail runs a heartening story involvingafter he was spotted on a train by a fan, whose friend then tweeted the veteran Reds defender to ask for help with their charity Dance Aid. Incredibly, Rio introduced himself to the girl on the carriage and offered his services to assist with fundraising and promotion.
