Good comprehensive report. On a side note, gun violence is actually down. It's the illegally owned guns that are the problem. People with mental problems are another group to worry about.
Congress has made it very clear that they have no intention of governing or doing anything at all to create jobs or help the country. They operate strictly for their big donors and lobbyists. That means if the president wants to do something - anything, he has to use the power of his office to do it. It really is pathetic what the repubs have done to democracy.
Laws alone cannot change a country. It needs to come from the hearts and minds of the people. It's going to take a paradigm shift away from violence as solutions. When Eisenhower said "beware of the military industrial complex," we should have listened and applied that to the "military complex" that is the fabric of American idealism. Angry confrontation is consistently revered, rather than civil problem solving. I am not saying we don't all lose it occasionally and become angry--it's normal. But for the most part finding something--anything good has better staying quality, in my opinion.

You have no idea what democracy is. By passing a democratically elected congress? Only a dictator would do that.
Just because they see things different from you does not mean they are wrong - remember that.
