Low Expectations for Toronto the Maple Leafs

Brian Burke has thanked his NHL's Toronto Leafs players for their support in the wake of his son's death.

I was considering doing an NHL power ranking or prediction heading into the 2013 NHL season that will start on January 19th. Then I read SI.com's power ranking and when I saw where the Toronto Maple Leafs were ranked I couldn't stop laughing. So I decided to comment about the low expectations that everyone has for this sorry franchise.

It's a no brainer that Toronto Maple Leafs fans expect the worst from their team. The Leafs are perennial losers. Adrian Dater of Sports Illustrated published his NHL power rankings on Wednesday and he has the Leafs ranked 27th out of 30 teams.

Poor Leafs fans, their team can't buy a break can they? Well they might if they land Roberto Luongo. As I wrote in an article this afternoon, Luongo could make the Leafs one of the best regular season teams. The playoffs would be a different story.
