This bit of news is sure to liven up one's day – it is about the rescue of a squirrel by a team of firefighters on three fire engines.

The incident is from Watford in Hertfordshire and has been reported in telgraph.co.uk of dated 7th of January 2013.

The squirrel got trapped in between the reds of an island in the town center pool and a message was sent to the Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue requesting for immediate assistance.

Immediately, the team arrived and saw the squirrel trying to get out of its position – a ladder was, therefore, used as a bridge between the island and the bank and the squirrel managed to cross over and disappear into its familiar territory.

The question being asked is – why should three fire engines come to rescue a tiny squirrel.

Authorities of the Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue have been put to a lot of embarrassment but have justified the action by the explanation that no one had indicated that it was a squirrel that had to be rescued!!

Hence, the normal team of three fire engines had been sent.
