Fair? That has become a four letter word to right-wingers. McCrystal and Wesley Clark have endorsed Hagel and they should know more than Lindsey Graham and Coburn what it takes to lead in the defense department.

Some members of the GOP say Hagel is "too soft", because he served in Vietnam with his brother and got wounded, so he knows first hand the sacrifices that are made in war-time and he has vowed that war should always be a last resort. Of course, Republicans would see that as weakness, when the Obama Administration sees it as a strength.
