Skooter report 01/05/13
At Sin City’s big New Year’s Eve fireworks extravaganza, a sergeant in Saudi Arabia's air force was jailed in Las Vegas on charges that he grabbed a young boy into a hotel room and sexually assaulted him.
The Saudi air force sergeant Mazen Alotaibi, 23, is accused of kidnapping, sexual assault with a minor and felony coercion that could get him a long jail term most likely decades in state prison, according to police and charging documents obtained Friday.
The boy of 14 or so, told police that Alotaibi forced him into a room at the Circus Circus hotel on the Las Vegas Strip and raped him. The Saudi man was arrested by police after being called to the hotel before 9:30 a.m. on Dec. 31. The said attack occurred on the sixth floor of a 15-story hotel tower.
Las Vegas police Lt. Dan McGrath said that there was a kidnapping and sexual assault with force. He said we have a strong case based on the evidence.
The boy was staying at the hotel with his family, McGrath said. He was brought to a local hospital for medical treatment and evidence gathering and released later to family members. His name was not made public for being minor.
The Saudi man also is charged with burglary, which in Nevada a person entering a building with intent to commit a felony is considered burglary.
Las Vegas Review-Journal was the first to report the arrest and cited a police report saying the boy was 13. At the Clark County jail, the accused was being held without bail pending an evidence hearing Jan. 17.
