Numbers are used in Scripture, not merely as in Nature, with supernatural design, but with spiritual significance. Understanding the deep meanings of 7 and 8 helps us to remove religious confusion and deception, thereby, clearing the way for the proper service to GOD Almighty. We must get the concept that the number 8 is above nature, which is represented by the number 7. Eight is associated with an awareness of the miraculous. The number 8 on its side is the same as the symbol for infinity that is also above nature.

The SIGNIFICANCE AND DEEP SPIRITUAL MEANINGS OF THE NUMBERS 7 AND 8

First, let's study the Number 7. According to Messianic Kabbalah, the number SEVEN (7):

  • Represents nature and that which is finite. Seven days in the week, 7 days of creation, and 7 human faculties. There are 7 colors of the rainbow and 7 musical notes.
  • When something has 7 parts, it symbolizes that it has reached its state of completion.
  • The number 7 symbolizes perfection – perfection that is achievable via natural means – while 8 symbolizes that which is beyond nature and its perfection.
  • Also, 7 relates to God limiting His revelation in this world so that physicality can exist.

The Lubavitcher Rebbe writes that the number 7 corresponds to the natural world in its fullest sense, comparable to the repeating order of the 7 days of the week.

The number 8, on the other hand, is one more than 7. This relates to the transcendent -- above the order of nature.

The NUMBER 8 ACCORDING TO THE COMPANION BIBLE

EIGHT. Denotes...regeneration; a new beginning or commencement. The eighth is a new first. Hence the octave in music, colour, days of the week, etc. It is the number which has to do with the LORD... It, or its multiple is impressed on all that has to do with the Lord's Names, the Lord's People, the Lord's works.-- Companion Bible (App. 10)

The NUMBER 8 ACCORDING TO MESSIANIC KABBALAH:

  • The number 8 represents the super-rational and the infinite.
  • It is the miraculous level, as above the natural level.
  • It is symbolic of an entity that is one step above the natural order, higher than nature and its limitations.
  • Eight is the Godly spiritual revelation above and beyond the physical revelations (scientific/technical) that the limited physical creation can offer.
  • The number 8 is the realm of the mystical and supernal revelations (Messianic Kabbalah) of God's secrets and mysteries.
