Al-Khaleej newspaper reported on Tuesday that Emirate authorities apprehended more than 10 members of the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood, accused of training locals in how to overthrow Arab governments.
The newspaper, quoting a senior security source, who mentioned that, the security investigations, since more than a year for the leaders and elements of the organization, confirmed that they are leading a group relating to Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood, in the United Arab Emirates territories. The source also confirmed that, the organization members are holding secret meetings in various parts of the country and recruiting members of the Egyptian community in the UAE, to join them. Furthermore, they also founded companies to be a cover for their activities. They also collected large sums of money and transferred it, illegally, to their head of organization in Egypt. The investigation also revealed the involvement of the leaders and elements of the organization in the collection of military information, relating to the security of the UAE.
Moreover, the source revealed that the Egyptian MB organization in the UAE, has held courses and lectures to members of the secret group about the elections and ways to change regimes in the Arab countries. However, the source did not mention if there were Emirate nationals among the members.
Officials were not available to comment on the report on Tuesday, due to a national holiday. A spokesman for the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, was also not available to comment too.
However, Emirate officials announced last week, that authorities announced busting
a cell of Saudi Arabian and Emirate citizens, plotting terror attacks in the two countries and in other states. According to the WAM state news agency, an official at the UAE Interior Ministry said, the arrests came after coordination between security authorities in Saudi Arabia and the UAE. He described the terrorist cell as members of the “deviant group,” a term often used in Saudi Arabia to refer to al-Qaida.
It is worth mentioning that, Dubai police chief Lieutenant General Dahi Khalfan, has warned in different occasions against an "international conspiracy" to overthrow the governments of the Gulf countries, led by the Muslim Brotherhood organization.
"We are aware that groups are plotting to overthrow the governments of Gulf countries in the long run".
UAE is one of the countries, which did not witness any protests since the beginning of the Arab Spring, which has led to the appearance of the Muslim Brotherhood in the Arab street professedly. Due to the fear of UAE from the Muslims Brotherhood organization to reach their country, UAE prevented any activities of the group on their territories. They are also arresting any person relating to this group, which affected negatively the Emirate-Egyptian relations.
Observers do not rule out the severance of diplomatic relations between the two countries
I do not think that the UAE needs an Arab spring. It is a stable country on the political and economical field. For this, the UAE government must work on the protection of its state from the Muslim Brotherhood intervention.
I've already mentioned that, one of the MB strategies, after it won the elections in a number of countries, is to export their revolution, same as Tehran doing. However, as for the UAE, the MB are seeking to steal the money of this oil-rich country, in order to secure a financial source for their ambitions.
I expect the relationship between Egypt and the United Arab Emirates to worsen, in the next phase, which could lead to cut off diplomatic relations between the two countries. If this happens, it will be a severe punishment for the Muslim Brotherhood organization, which did not show until the moment, their eligibility in ruling Egypt. Despite that, they began to expand their goals and transfer their revolution to other countries, which confirms their political failure.
