Over 1.5 million people gathered at the Sydney Harbour this year to see the spectacular fireworks. Seven tones of fireworks (US $6.9 million) were burned at the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House this year accompanied by singer Kylie Minogue co-written soundtrack, reported the BBC News.

“This is really putting Australia on the map in terms of welcoming people to the New Year,” the Times of India quoted Sydney Lord Mayor Clover Moore as saying.
