The ‘Saturday Night Live’ (SNL) paid tribute to the Connecticut shooting victims on Dec. 15 by opening the show with the New York City Children’s chorus of “Silent Night.”

The song was a departure for SNL which is known to open shows with catchlines.

However, the chorus returned back to tradition, shouting out, "Live from New York, it's Saturday Night!" at the closing of the song, reported the People.

The chorus also appeared on stage along with guest Paul McCartney to perform "Wonderful Christmas Time."
