I've attached a video of Eric Sevareid's 1977 CBS Evening News farewell broadcast; it also contains some very good advice for political writers and pundits of all political stripes. The section beginning around 50 seconds and ending at 1:38 is especially pertinent to the fine art of punditry, even in this day and age.
