Touted as the Country Music awards for the next generation, the American Country Awards are a fan-voted award. Not only can fans vote for their favourite artists and songs; but also for their favourite touring bands.

Multi platinum country artist Trace Adkins and award winning actress and singer Kristen Chenoweth host the event from Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.

Nine time American Country Award nominee Luke Bryan opens the show.

While hubby Blake Shelton was coaching his final two singers in “The Voice”, Miranda Lambert handed out the first award of the night for Group of the Year; and the guitar award went to Lady Antebellum

Dierks Bentley perfrmed “Country in Cold Cans”.

Last year “American Idol” champion Scotty McCreery won the award for New Artist of the Year; this year he helped to present the award to a very shocked fellow Idol alum Lauren Alaina.

Rascal Flatts performed.

Kip Moore performed “Something ‘Bout a Truck”.

Blue Collar comedian Ron White brought his Mom along to present the award for Breakthrough Artist of the Year to Jake Owen.

The Touring Artist of the Year Award went to Jason Aldean.

Host Trace Adkins joins classic southern rockers Lynyrd Skynyrd for a performance of “What’s Your Name”.

Breakthrough artist winner Jake Owen performs “The One that Got Away”.

The Female Artist of the Year Award went to “American Idol” winner Carrie Underwood. With this win Underwood now has eleven ACAs; which is the most of any artist.

Touring Artist winner Jason Aldean performed “The Only Way I Know”.

The Single of the Year by a Female Artist went to Miranda Lambert for “Over You”. In accepting the award Miranda said, “honey (Blake Shelton), we won an award.”

Co-host Kristen Chenoweth performed.

The Music Video of the Year by a Group or Collaboration went to Little Big Town for “Pontoon”.

Rock legend Lindsey Buckingham paid tribute to Keith Urban for his “Paying it forward”. Urban performed “Crossroads” with some students from the Grammy Camp.
