Bible Verse of the Day
“Thendeclared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.”
This is one of the verses I often heard when I was growing up, and at times I thought I knew what it meant; but as I get older (mature in Christ) I find that I am just beginning to understand it.
As life goes on I have too often looked to other things than to Jesus to satisfy what I think I hunger for or thirst for. I have tried pouring myself into work, projects, ministry, etc… I have looked for answers in what the world says is important such as possessions, status, etc…, only to find that it temporarily filled the need (or at least I think it did)
Honestly isn’t that also what most of our sin is about? Trying to find a cure for the emptiness, the guilt, the anger, etc…? It’s not because we want to do wrong things as much as trying to satisfy the ache.
Jesus is saying “I am the what your heart was made for”, “you cannot fill that void except through Me”. “I understand you don’t even know what this looks like yet, but will you trust Me?”
I am not sure what that fully looks like but I do know all the counterfeits I have been chasing do not work.
I want to eat and not be hungry, I want to drink and never thirst again… How about you?
Please join me in prayer…
Forgive me for the things I have chased after and have not looked to You for. I want the life, love, joy and peace You are offering. I want to be free of the chains of this world and the lies of the enemy. I want to walk in the freedom that only You have to offer.
Please guide me in the deeper truths of my heart, of who I am, Who the Father is and to theand Water of life.
