Kansas City police are still investigating a deadly shooting that involve an NFL player and his girlfriend on Saturday morning. The Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher suicide in which he allegedly killed his girlfriend and then drove to the team's practice facility where he shot and killed himself, according to KCTV5 report. He is 25.
Kansas City Chiefs, released a statement, “We can confirm that there was an incident at Arrowhead earlier this morning. We are cooperating with authorities in their investigation.”
The first shooting was reported about 8 a.m. at a home near 54th Street and Chrysler Avenue in which Belcher kills his girlfriend. He then droved to the team's practice facility and commits suicide by shooting himself in front of coach and GM as reported by ESPN radio.
Javon Belcher was undrafted in the 2009 NFL Draft, but agreed to a free agent contract with the Kansas City Chiefs. Belcher became the Chiefs starting Inside Linebacker in the 2011 NFL season. He recorded 87 tackles. 10 tackles less than his 2010 season. Following the 2011 season, Belcher agreed to tender during the offseason. He was re-signed on March 22, 2012.
NFL players voiced their sympathy and prayer via Twitter, Will Allen of New England Patriots tweet, 'Praying for Javon Belcher and his girlfriend, their respective families and the KC Chiefs' ESPN Radio tweets, 'Word out of Kansas City is that linebacker Javon Belcher, killed his girlfriend then committed suicide in front of head coach and GM.'
Kansas City currently undergoes the worst season record in the NFL with one win and eleven loss. The Chiefs scheduled to play the Panthers on Sunday.
