People with family history of diabetes are considered high risk. Regular blood sugar check-up and proper diet will help prevent the development of diabetes mellitus (DM) and its complications like stroke, heart attack, blindness, or even to undergo dialysis to name a few.
International experts came out with a new adjustment in the normal level of blood sugar tests where before it was 100-115mg/dL now the accepted normal fasting blood sugar (FBS) level is below 100mg/dL. An FBS of 100 to 125 mg/dL is considered impaired fasting blood glucose or IFG. People with this level is considered to be pre-diabetic. Pre-diabetic condition should not be dismissed becasue studies shows that people with IFG will likely develop DM within 10 years
