Apparently a suicide attack jolted Islamabad, the federal Capital of Pakistan, on Saturday evening when a truck loaded with explosives crashed in to a five star hotel located in the red zone area.

According to the eye witnesses and hotel Marriot management at 7:48 pm a truck of green color tried to enter the main lobby of the hotel at a time when the hotel was crowded with the people for their ‘Iftar’ (fasting). The security personnel at the main entry gate of the hotel stopped the truck for security. In the meantime the suicide attacker blew himself with the truck which caused a huge explosion, which was heard in around the federal capital and the twin city Rawalpindi that located approximately 10 Kilometers from the seen.

A 290 room hotel had a full occupancy and many foreigners were also present in the hotel when this bloody incident took place. After the explosion the hotel rooms at the second and fourth floors caught fire and then engulfed the whole hotel.

The Inspector General Police Islamabad told that 40 people have been killed in the attack.
