Skooter reports 11/28/12
This evening, a bus smashed into a Long Island house resulting to the death of a 6-year-old boy and others injured, police said.
At Fulton Avenue in Hempstead, the Nassau Inter County Express bus crashed into the home around 9:30 p.m., cops said. The NICE bus was trying to avoid hitting a pedestrian in the street when it swerved into the house, officials said.
The child was hit inside his home with his parents, cops said. Hempstead Police Sgt. Mark Kirichenko said the child was just in a bad spot. The boy’s name wasn’t revealed, later died at an area hospital, Kirichenko said.
The pedestrian was also struck by the bus and was taken to Nassau University Medical Center in critical condition. There were more or less 15 passengers on the Route N70 when the accident happened. Nine passengers were brought to the hospital, while the others declined medical attention, said a NICE spokesman.
