see the score on each level to two fairly evenly matched, although competition seems pretty tight. Thank you Karl. Best Regard.

Yes two races were very tight, while one was a runaway.

Thanks for the report Karl.

My knowledge of Canadian politics is limited, but I am glad some liberal leaning folk are advancing--even in your district! : )

Dava, if you know anything about Canada, you will realize that even conservatives here are liberal lol. We believe in universal health care and same sex marriage. We don't divide our population by race or class and don't run constant election campaigns for billions of dollars, which only proofs that the candidates are beholden to those that donate to their campaigns.

Our premiers work together, regardless of political affiliation and we even have a non contributory old age pension plan that gets supplemented for low income seniors.

Your politicians are obstructionist on both sides. The Democrats blame the Republicans, yet your Senate Seniority Leader hasn't tabled a budget in four years. He didn't even think it important to take the House budget and propose amendments.

Does anyone in the US really think they can carry on without cutting some entitlement programs and keep spending? Eventually it will be no different than the promises made by European politicians and if anyone looked they would see what the end result is there.

By-elections are used to send a message to our government in Ottawa to show displeasure, even from their conservative base. With a population of about the same size of California, with infrastructure stretching 3500 miles from East to West and all the way from the US border to the arctic, it is quite commendable that we can accomplish this with our progressive taxation and a corporate tax of just 15%. Our system, including banking, has placed as as the number one economy in the G8.

Even the Bank of England has now hired the Governor of the Bank of Canada to take over their soon. By the way he is a home grown Edmonton boy. Go figure. Something must be working.

Maybe American exceptionalism would be well served to look outside of its borders. There are lessons to be learned.

Never confuse Canadian conservatism with American conservatism.

A great article and comment. You've said it all. Thanks for your input of our elections and our many parties the run.

you're welcome foxy. I never want to see that partisan divide that exists in the US. We never agree with everything our parties do and have been known to vote for other parties as well.

Karl Gotthardt, hopefully, these new blood in the Canadian Parliament will add greater pulse rate to check PM Stephen Harper and delimit his excesses to the advantage of all Canadians. Rated^^^.

dhreff, thank you for commenting. The status quo in parliament hasn't changed. It will be business as usual.

I personally still don't think the liberals are ready to run the country. Trudeau, now that's a nightmare I hope we never have to live with again.
Great reporting Karl
