Life sets-in Sandy devastated states in the US East Coast
Anchor for Allvoices
It has been almost a month ago when Sandy reduced into ruins the US East Coast that bent the people on their knees in sufferings and difficulties. The super storm destroyed in matters of a few hours lives of people which have been built for almost a life time. The furious hurricane had stricken poor and rich Americans alike in those areas to feel and bear the same degrees of hardships.
However, after the storm the rich bore most of the sufferings. The disaster situation was and still a nightmare for all of them. It seemed it was the end of the world for most if not for all of them.
Survival in those areas was an individual walk for the survivors before certain forms of outside assistance could reach them after the storm had passed. After so much crying, weeping and blaming have been done, external assistance came for some areas. Meanwhile most of the people in the areas keep shouting for help from local, state and federal government agencies and instrumentalities. Aids from all levels of government came but were not as prompt and immediate as they were expected. What one does with the grass when it came at the time the horse was already dead?
Undeniably, federal response and assistance to the devastated areas were delayed. This made the survivors mad at their government. Despite of the slow pace of recovery, people are determined to rise above the ruins which they did eventually barely in a month time.
As they keep riding on the ruins and continue mending their broken lives, the survivors are now continuously manifesting renewed lives in the extensively devastated US East Coast. The reopening of stores damaged by Sandy for the “holiday shopping” is a clear indication that life in the vast ruins finally sets-in.
Life in those areas may continue to improve day after day from now on and onwards. God Bless the people in the US East Coast.
