The hip hop super star is just 30, but planning to hang up the mic and try his luck in other things like sports.
Rap artistsat for an interview with MTV News recently and said that he has some big plans after he takes retirement following the release of his last album, Carter V.
"I know y'all want me around for a little bit, and Carter V is my last album," Lil Wayne said.
"Man, I've been rappin' since I was 8 years old. I'm 30 now, man. That's a long time. I'd like to do so many more things, and when I like to do something, I end up loving to do it real quick. When I love to do something, I'm fully focused on it and it only. Music is sometimes not that it.”
Wayne also believes that it would be foolish of him to think that things will continue to be as great for him in music as they have been so far.
When asked what he would do after wrapping up his music career, he said the idea of becoming a skates/sports analyst is something that interests him a lot.
"I'd be a skater/sports analyst" he said of an ideal, future profession. "My day job will probably be sports analyst and I'll skate all night instead of being in the studio all night."
Wayne said that until now, he was not aware of how interesting skating can be, but now that he has realized, he wants to spend most of his time doing that.
“Skating is a world, it’s a world... it’s a life, it’s a world, it’s, it’s own and I didn’t know that,” he said candidly. “I thought it was four wheels and piece of wood. I didn’t know that. Now I know it’s a world and I just wanna be vital in that world.”
He also said that as far as sports are concerned, he and his brother, Nelly, are planning to work together on bringing out a sports show. He further said that since they don’t have a station at the moment, they might be doing it on their own for now.
Last year, Lil Wayne said that he would take retirement at age 35, adding that he has four kids and would feel selfish if he was still spending so much time at the studio when his children were going through such a vital phase of their lives.
