It was a job for the ladies of the Obama household, welcoming their Christmas tree for 2012, and tackle it they did, right after Thanksgiving at the White House in Washington, DC!
First Lady Michelle Obama was joined by her daughters, Malia and Sasha, all dressed still in the colors and motifs of fall and Thanksgiving as they were presented with the official White House Christmas tree.
This year the tree is a 19-foot Fraser Fir from Peak Farms in North Carolina, owned by Rusty and Beau Estes. It was pulled by two Clydesdale horses ahead of a wooden cart that was driven by a top-hat-wearing driver, as a military band played “O Christmas Tree” in accompaniment. The scene was really quite Victorian in sentiment.
FLOTUS (the First Lady of the United States) Michelle wore a colorful skirt in autumnal tones orange, brown, burgundy as well as black, which she teamed with a black jewel neck top, black cardigan and black boots, accessorized with a thick black patent leather belt and a brooch.
Older daughter Malia too wore autumnal colors in the way of a burgundy and beige top, teamed with a black box pleat mini skirt, black tights and black laceup ankle boots, while younger sister Sasha was in a geometric Native American patterned dress in teal, beige, black and grey, teamed with a black cardigan, black polka-dotted stockings and black-toed burgundy flats.
Michelle, Malia and Sasha had clearly coordinated their outfits to reflect the Thanksgiving spirit of the day before!
Bo, the family's Portuguese Water Dog, was also nearby looking incredibly cute, which he can’t help but be in all his shaggy black and white glory.
Looking over the fir tree, Michelle was sure to take a deep sniff of the pine needles, while Malia made sure that the top was nice and compact at the top, which is important to her.
Mrs. Obama was heard saying to her daughters, “I think we’ll take it. Do you agree?” to which Malia retorted, “I agree.”
Michelle and the girls in agreement, and with a thumbs up to the press assembled, the First Lady then said, “It’s a go—we’re good! We can have Christmas now!”
Word has it the Christmas decorations are already out. It won’t be long now before the White House Christmas tree will be lit…
