No way out for Pakistani Retierd Generals?

Hyderabad Sindh: Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) had issued a detailed verdict on Nov 7, 2012 in connection with the Asghar Khan Case “Mehran Bank Scandal.” On Nov 9, 2012 a leading Tv Channel of Pakistan ‘Geo’ has invited a retired General Asad Durrani to participate in its regular talk show “Jirga” ascertain as to what would be his stance after the SCP verdict.

Retired General Asad Durrani the then DG ISI one of the prominent characters in the above Case joined this talk show ‘Jirga’ on Nov 9, 2012.

The host of the talk show after several formal and substantial prerequisites wherein he said today’s talk show is put up to know about a political party ‘Islami Jamhori Itahad’ (IJI) formed by General Hameed Gul which party is recognized as a main reason of falling down the Benazir Bhutto in the election, 1990. In addition, the host said, the formation of a new political party and distributing huge amount among the politicians of the IJI through the ISI, basically this proposal had motivated the then General Naseerullah Baber for the first time.

Furthermore, the host said, the then Air Martial Asghar Khan filed a petition against the above conspiracy which order has come in the limelight recently.

Up came the names of Mirza Aslam Baig the then Pakistan’s Army Chief and Asad Durrani the then Director General Pakistan’s Secrete Agency Inter Services Intelligence (ISI).

The former DG ISI was asked by the host, as to what was his position concerning the topic of the distributing money among the politicians of the IJI to set down the PPP leader Benazir Bhutto election 1990.

He conceded but, said, I had no option I was bound to comply with the orders that had been issuing time to time. The former Spy master said it was an order from the then Chief of Staff Mirza Aslam Baig, obviously I had to follow. Truly these orders had been issued from the office of the then President of Pakistan Ghulam Ishaq Khan.

In addition he said, Once Mirza Aslam Baig had told me that, President Ghulam Ishaq Khan says “in order to avert the corruption I want to Fire Benazir Bhutto”. As far as the basic roots of the orders are concerned these were issued by the then President.

When he was asked about Benazir Bhutto, whether she had given any list of the Sikh community to Rajev Gandhi the then India’s Prime Minister or not, then perhaps the president had become worried more for others when apprised, he said

Long time ago, Benazir Bhutto had said that “I helped Rajev Gandhi” ( the then India’s Prime Minister), former DG ISI said. It was a great concern for all.
