Dortmund twice gave up leads in their 3-3 draw against high-flying Eintracht Frankfurt on Tuesday

Last year's No. 1 and No. 2 in the 2nd Bundesliga met for the first time during their debut season in Bundesliga. Frankfurt holds the third spot, while Greuther Fuerth was at the bottom of the league. Although Frankfurt scored just 22 seconds into the match, in the end they fought to a 1-1 draw.

Alexander Meier scored the opening goal early on in the match. Sebastian Rode's pass within from the right side of the 16 meter area was blocked by Fuerth's keeper. The deflection could have been cleared by Fuerth's defender Stephan Fuerstner, who slipped. The ball landed at the feet of Alexander Meier, who tabbed the ball into position, fired from just inside the penalty area and buried it in the net. This was Alexander Meier's seventh goal of the season, trailing Bayern's Mandzukic by one. 1-0 Frankfurt.

Despite the goal, Fuerth found its form and for the remainder of the first half provided the same performance as Frankfurt. After 45 minutes the teams went into break, with a 1-0 lead for Franfurt.

Zoltan Stieber got the equalizer for Fuerth in the 53rd minute. Oliver Occean, on a drive toward the Fuerth goal is dispossessed on the right wing. A series of three quick combinations by the Fuerth midfield, ends with a pass to Zolatan Stieber, who only faces Fuerth keeper, about 30 meters from the Franfurt goal. Frankfurt's keeper Trapp, rushed out of the goal toward Stieber, who lobbe the ball over his head and the ball bounced into the target, before defender could get to it.

During the final third of the match, the match continued to be fairly even, with both sides creating chances, but to no avail. In the end both sides parted with a deserving 1-1 draw. Frankfurt remains in third spot with a five point lead over Dortmund, while Fuerth temporarily moves into seventh spot with a one point lead over FC Augsburg.

Augsburg has a difficult match in Hanover tomorrow and Greuther Fuerth may very well avoid going back into the cellar. What is clear now is that there will be no shift in the top three spots resulting from the remainder of this weekends matches.
