A 12-year-old California boy wanted to see his pet terrier mix die and so he killed his dog. The 12-pound dog was found by Salinas Californian police officers by its collar on a bedroom door handle. The boy told officers he was mad at the dog and he wanted to see it die, investigators said.

On Friday afternoon, dispatchers received a 911 emergency call from a female caller saying the boy was hurting the dog. When Salinas officers arrived, people in the boy's apartment refused to open the door, so they obtained a pass key.

The boy was taken into custody and brought to Monterey County Juvenile Hall for investigation of felony animal cruelty.
