Bible Verse of the Day
13 “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.
This morning I was thinking about the narrow road and my mind shifted to a part of a poem bycalled “The Road Not Taken”,
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
Now before I go any further I must admit I did not know the name of this poem or anything other the part above. I thought It was written by Robert Frost but I could not tell you anything else he wrote.
In the poem he describes the road less traveled as being full of undergrowth.
If you have ever hiked or walked in the woods? Remember what it is like when you get off the beaten well worn paths and try to follow another way? The travel is difficult and uncertain but usually leads to places that few others have ever witnessed.
In Matthew we are told that the less traveled road (narrow road the few find) is the road that leads to life, this road is also difficult at times and has periods of uncertainty but it is the only road that makes all the difference in our lives.
Although it may feel at times that we travel this alone, we do not. There are some just ahead of us that have begun this journey before we did and others just a curve or two behind. There are some that a very near where we are that we have not met yet. And of course the is always One that the is there with us.
As we travel along in this adventure with God it will leads us further from the wide road of the world and it begins to feel more and more isolated as others do not understand the path you are on… it is in these time hold onto the words in Deuteronomy 31:6
6 Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”
Indeed dear friend be strong and courageous and keep finding your way along the narrow road, it is worth it.
Have a blessed day,
