World Series: Game Three
San Francisco Giants 2 Detroit Tigers 0
The Giants are one win away from their second World Series championship in two years. SF struck for two runs in the second inning and, once again, was front and center. Pence walked, stole second and then advanced to third on a wild pitch from Detroit starter Anibal Sanchez. Gregor Blanco tripled Pence home and then scored the games second run when Brandon Crawford singled. Those were all the runs the Giants would need as they received another stellar performance from their starter Ryan Vogelsong as well as the bullpen. Vogelsong went 5.2 innings and gave up five hits and walked four while striking out three. pitched two scoreless innings and Sergio Romo came on in the ninth for the save. The Tigers now have not scored since the ninth inning of game one and have been outscored 12-3 in the series. Anibal Sanchez probably deserved a better fate as he went seven strong innings giving up just six hits while walking one and striking out eight. However, the second inning did him in.
The Giants now lead the series 3-0 and will try to wrap it up with a game four win in Detroit on Sunday night. Game time is 8pm EST.will start for San Francisco and Max Scherzer will try and prevent a Giants sweep for the Tigers. If Detroit can extend the series, game five would be on Monday night in Detroit. The game one starters, and would be the starters. Games six and seven, if necessary would be played in San Francisco.
