Police and disaster officials said a flashflood derailed three coaches of the Bicol-bound Philippine National Railways (PNR) train which fell off a small bridge in the Village of Canda, Sariaya,Quezon at 2: 15 a.m. Eight of the passengers were rushed to a nearby hospital while the rest of the passengers were brought to Canda village’s multi-purpose hall, reports reaching Manila said. The typhoon’s thick rains inundated much of southern Luzon island’s provinces, leaving scores of people dead and destroying most of agricultural crops supposed to be harvested before the Christmas holidays. 30
