Another "Intelligent" GOP Supporter Speaks Out Against Birth Control and support for Richard Mourdock

With a God like the GOP’s, who needs the Devil? For the way The Almighty is being described by some, that evil Lucifer may not be in business much longer. Unfortunately, the Republican rhetoric on rape is becoming increasingly alarming. Remember that childhood phrase "stick and stones will break my bones, but words will never hurt me?" That's a lie, for words have the power to hurt, especially when they're written into law.

Rape seems to be on several Republicans’ minds lately and they are certainly not shy about letting us know exactly how they feel. Then frantically attempt to back-peddle when they realize the public does not think like they do.

Then the apologies burst forth, but we know they meant what they originally said. Even more disturbing, we also know that they’re not isolated incidents by a few crazies.

It is the politics of some esteemed players within the Grand Ole Party. So when the Senate candidate from Indiana, Richard Mourdock, said during Tuesday's debate that it is God’s design that a woman raped have her rapist’s baby if she gets pregnant (Read it here: Mourdock: ‘God Intended’ Pregnancy), or former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee tells us that rape has produced “some extraordinary people,” or when the term “forcible rape” is prominently featured in House legislation pushed by the Republican Vice Presidential nominee Paul Ryan himself, or that a woman’s body can repel sperm during “legitimate rape” as Senate hopeful from Missouri Todd Akin proudly told a television host—then we see a pattern here. (Read more here: http://www.allvoices.com/contributed-news/12814429-the-stunning-republican-rhetoric-on-rape-rolls-on-as-mike-huckabee-weighs-in-on-the-extraordinary-people-resulting-from-rape).

Incidentally, Mourdock was recently endorsed by none other than the Republican presidential nominee himself, Mitt Romney, and there is the ad to prove it. More importantly, Romney has said that he would work to overturn a woman’s right to choose, so we see just how dangerous this could turn for women very quickly if these people are allowed anywhere near Washington.

If the man who wants to lead this country promises to take us back to that dark period in history and several in his party think pregnancies through rape are a blessing by God for girls and women, what will be the difference between America, leader of the free world, and the Taliban extremists this country is currently waging war against?

This God that many in the GOP are pushing on the rest of America is breathtakingly scary. This is a God who thinks women should be forced to have babies by their rapists, who thinks all gay and lesbians are evil sinners, doomed for an eternity of fire and brimstone; who thinks young victims of incest should have their babies if they are impregnated by their abusers; that protecting oneself from unwanted pregnancies through birth control or enjoying sex if you’re single are immoral. I guess sex should be reserved for only married women and even then, only for procreation—because, let’s face it—if you’re not allowed to use birth control or have an abortion, what is a girl to do?

Even more terrifying, these folks who subscribe to this extreme religious ideology have the power to legislate how we live. Separation of church and state seems non-existent and America is heading in a deeply regressive direction if some Republicans have their way.

My position is they can believe whatever they want to believe. Believe that their God is vengeful, spiteful, cruel, and judgmental. Believe that the earth is flat and was created in a week. Believe that woman came from the rib of a man and that civilization started by two white people in a garden somewhere. But what I will not accept is legislators frenetically working to control my reproductive life and that of other women and girls. That is not an option-- so women and all the reasonable men out there, whose God doesn't resemble anything remotely close to the one described above, please remember this when the election rolls around in November.

Every time one of these radical TP repubs talks about abortion, they sound crazier. This is an obvious push to force the personal religious views of fundamentalists into public policy. What will they want next? Their phony small govt. talk is a joke when they want to control the outcome of pregnancies.

These new breed of Republicans need to move to the Middle East. They will fit right in with the Taliban and other extremists over there.

You notice that men are always the ones, who make such ignorant statements about rape.

I would also include they can believe the world is only 9000 years old if they want. HA...

Yes, it is always old white males and like SNL comedian Tina Fey said "with $2 haircuts!" And yes they do believe our earth is quite young..anything to fit their crazy theories.

Homer looks just like so many of our U.S. Congressmen. They want to deny American women birth control so that they can be in charge and then punish them for getting pregnant!

These Neanderthals scare the you know what out of me. They want to take their country back all right--way, way back to dark back alleys and women dying.

Thanks for the report Veronica.

This is why American democracy has separation of church and state. Lest we forget, the folks with "God on their side" brought the world the Crusades, the Salem Witch Trials, and several hundred years of The Inquisition, and more recently the Westboro Church fanatics.

You're welcome Dava. Yes, many of the world's atrocities were committed in the name of God.

Typical of the Unbearable Lightness of Being Liberal.

According to Karl Rove who managed to eke out two Bush wins against the clueless candidates, Romney is now leading amongst women and in likeability. Obama came across the last debates as a man in full panic mode, enraged that someone has the nerve to challenge His Royal Highness, arrogant, challenging, dismissive, lacking substance, interrupting the debate, and generally immature... and to many women, seemingly out of his league against a patient, kind, presidential Mitt Romney.

The lies of Benghazigate may have nailed TEAM OBAMA's coffin shut.

By 4 PM EST Sept. 11, the White House knew that the attack on the American compound was terrorism, coordinated and preplanned. They knew from a drone flying overhead that there were no demonstrations to be seen anywhere.

By about 6 PM, al Q'aeda affiliate Ansar al Sharia identified itself in postings to all US government agencies involved in the matter.

In other words, within two hours of the start of the incident the state department, Hillary, Obama, the national security council and others in the foreign service knew the intimate details of the attack. For two weeks thereafter Obama and Crew went on a Reality Denial Campaign, even to the UN where everybody already knew the facts, all with the complicity of the US media that tried to hide the facts - blaming everything on an obscure You Tube video from California. In fact, the blaming on the video inflamed the rioters elsewhere and more riots broke out as a result.

Obama's foreign policy resulted in massive tragedies and America hatred around the world - this after Obama told the world in 2008 that he will restore respect for America.

GOOGLE it.

The Murdoch rape remark is another distraction by clueless democrats who are more concerned with Sandra Fluke's $3000 condom habit, BAIN Capital that, unlike Obama who has impoverished millions of women, had enriched millions of families employed by STAPLES and STEEL DYNAMICS, and of all things, Big Bird, than with this nation's welfare, security and well-being.

HATE is more important to the left liberal than her nation.

The GOP doesn't have a god. I will never support any idiot supplanting the Constitution for the Bible. Most of the GOP feels the same way; that's why it's such a newsworthy item when something like this happens.

The Salem Witch Trials had nothing to do with Christianity. It was fomented by jealous little girls.

The Inquisition also had nothing to do with Christianity; it was the action of a corrupt church and church leaders with an agenda that was denounced by most Christians of the era.

The Westboro Baptist Church isn't a Christian organization... they're whackos. They bear no resemblance to mainstream Christianity.

If you read interviews with Jeremiah Wright, he stated quite clearly that Obama believed he was chosen by God to be President.

The US Republic has no separation of Church and State; it merely prevents the government from actively endorsing any religion. That's why the Supreme Court upheld Nativity scenes on public property at Christmas time, as long as they weren't accompanied by any endorsing statements like "Christ is King". They, in fact, supported it twice.

Just as a side note, attacking anyone's religion is like attacking their race; maybe you should stop calling people racists if you're going to attack something you apparently know nothing about.

Who is attacking religion--and what do you know about me and religion and my knowledge? Trust me, I think I know more than these fools spewing on rape.

If a legislator, who has the power to enact laws for us to live by spews his religion as law, you bet your assets, he is going to have to deal with the consequences. That's a no-brainer Hardy.

"The Murdoch rape remark is another distraction by clueless democrats who are more concerned with Sandra Fluke's $3000 condom habit"

I saw someone breakdown that comment awhile back... they said the birth control pills were available from Walmart for about $9/mo. If you wanted to be sure to be safe, you could also use a condom; Trojans in a large box can be had for around $.33 apiece.

Taking this into account, $3000 dollars would be enough for her to have had sex 7 times a day, and twice on Sunday... not that that's a bad thing, but we shouldn't have to pay for it...

Hardy, while you're at it, why don't you break down the math for the little blue pills (Viagra) favored by old impotent men? The kind that look a lot like the ones regurgitating this crap on rape? Isn't that covered by insurance?

While you're at it, why don't you go break down the math for Viagra for impotent old men Hardy?
