Denzel Washington in Man On Fire

The toxicolgy test results in the death of director Tony Scott have finally come in. He had "therapeutic levels" of Remeron and Lunesta in his system when he took his own life back in August. Remeron is an anti-depressant and Lunesta is commonly used as a sleep aid. The report yesterday made no mention of cancer or any other ailment. It had been reported that Tony had been suffering from inoperable brain cancer but the family denied that he was ill at the time of his suicide.

I was watching the tv show Numb3rs (2005-2010) the other night and remembered that Tony and his brother Ridley were the executive producers of that show. Both brothers have had major successes on the silver screen. I thought it would be interesting to take a look at the "numbers" for each brother and their ten top money-makers at the box office. These numbers are for world-wide gross, are rounded off and are not adjusted for inflation.

.) Ridley Scott's Gladiator 2000 $458 Million

.) Ridley Scott's Prometheus 2012 $402 Million

.) Tony Scott's Top Gun 1986 $353 Million

.) Ridley Scott's Hannibal 2001 $351 Million

.) Ridley Scott's Robin Hood 2010 $321 Million

.) Tony Scott's Beverly Hills Cop II 1987 $300 Million

.) Ridley Scott's American Gangster 2007 $266 Million

.) Tony Scott's Enemy Of The State 1998 $250 Million

.) Ridley Scott's Kingdom Of Heaven 2005 $211 Million

.) Tony Scott's Deja Vu 2006 $180 Million

.) Ridley Scott's Black Hawk Down 2001 $173 Million

.) Tony Scott's Unstoppable 2010 $167 Million

.) Tony Scott's Days Of Thunder 1990 $158 Million

.) Tony Scott's Crimson Tide 1995 $157 Million

.) Tony Scott's The Taking Of Pelham 1 2 3 2009 $150 Million

.) Tony Scott's Spy Game 2001 $143 Million

.) Tony Scott's Man On Fire 2004 $130 Million
