Two members of the Pussy Riot Russian punk band 24-year old Maria Alyokhina and 22-year old Nadezhda Tolokonnikova had been convicted in August-2012 for performing offensive dances in a Church and has now been sent to remote jails in Siberia.
They had sentenced to two years in prison on charges of 'hooliganism motivated by religious hatred' – they had burst into cathedral in Russia to register their protest against President Vladimir Putin.

They had appealed against the punishment the appeal has been turned down on 10th of October 2012 – hence, they would have to go to the ‘gulags’ located in remote Siberia.
It is rumored that Tolokonnikova has been sent to swamp-infested Mordovia, about 300 miles east of Moscow – this is known as the most notorious jails in Russia.
And - Alyokhina has been sent to Siberia's remote Perm region, near the Ural Mountains – this is situated nearly 700 miles east of the capital.
Their families still do not know which prison they would finally land up in because the journey could take several days.
