Sergio Romo Pitching the 9th

The San Francisco Giants and St. Louis Cardinals are two of the best teams in the Major League when it comes to elimination games. But tonight, the Giants winning six elimination games in a row are simply better than the Cardinals.

Giants Matt Cain pitched a solid 5.2 innings giving up five hits, no runs and striking out four to set the tone for San Francisco in beating St. Louis Cardinals 9-0 to advance the World Series. The ace pitcher also help the offense with an RBI in a singled to center that bring Gregor Blanco home to score.

Matt Cain performance is a follow-up of Ryan Vogelsong who took command on Sunday's Game 6 of the NLCS, striking out nine over 7.0 inning of one-run ball to earn the win and keep the Giants afloat in the postseason.

San Francisco was firing in all cyliders as the superb pitching comes the timely hitting, without to mention Brandon Crawford jump save in the second inning. Giants bats work on early as Pablo Sandoval grounded out, pitcher Kyle Lohse to first baseman Allen Craig to bring home Angel Pagan in 1-0 lead after first inning. Matt Cain RBI single to center make it 2-0 lead after second inning.

Marco Scutaro the most reliable Giants’ hitter opened the third inning with a single off Kyle Lohse, Pablo Sandoval doubled and Buster Posey walked to load the bases.

Hunter Pence RBI double opens the flood gate as he knocked a broken bat grounder off to diving shortstop Pete Kozma with two runs came in. Cardinals defense in this series has been awful as Jon Jay didn’t handle the ball cleanly to bring Posey safe at home too in an the error. Brandon Belt followed with an infield hit and Gregor Blanco walked to load the bases again.

Brandon Crawford hit a bouncer toward short stop but Kozma went to throw at home plate and didn’t get Pence out. The Giants is not done yet as Angel Pagan sent in Belt to home with a fielder’s choice that might have been a double-play ball with poor decision on Kozma.

Edward Mujica got Sandoval to line to first to end the inning as the Giants sent 11 men to the plate and scored five runs in the inning. Cardinals poor defense resulted on five more runs to give the Giants 7-0 at the end of third.

In the bottom of the seveth, Aubrey Huff grounded into a double play, to bring Blanco home to make it 8-0. Brandon Belt homered to right on a 1-1 count to make it 9-0. Giants relievers Jeremy Affeldt, Santiago Casilla and Javier Lopez shutdowned the Cardinal hitters.

Sergio Romo close the ninth inning, now with heavy rain pouring in, but it doesn't deter the Giants players to finish the job so as the fans went into frenzy while soaking in the rain. San Francisco goes to the World Series for the second time in three years. They will host the Detroit Tigers on Wednesday Game 1 of the World Series. Marco Scutaro who has above .500 hitting average was named NL Championship series Most Valuable Player.
