In 2008, Germany paid Israel 50 billion US dollars to be distributed to the estimated 150,000 Israelis that survived the holocaust during World War II. However, the Israeli government has pocketed a majority of the money as 1/3 of the holocaust survivors wallow in poverty in their final years. It's sad to see that they lived such a horrible past to be disregarded by their own people.

To calculate how much the Israeli government has stolen from the holocaust survivors, let's take a look at the facts. At the time of the inquiry, each holocaust survivor was only given a lump sum of 2,500 euros. That works out to about 56.25 million US dollars.

Then, the survivors are given 400 euros a month. Over the span of four years, that is around 4.3 billion US dollars handed out. That means that the Israeli government has stolen over 45 billion US dollars from the pool of money that was supposed to be given to the living holocaust survivors.

Israel keeps the memory of the holocaust alive, but they have abandoned the holocaust survivors by having them live in squalor.
