Researchers of Geneva Observatory discovered a new planet which is similar to the size of Earth and is the nearest planet outside our solar system to Earth. life on its surface is impossible.
Astronomers discovered a new planet is the closest to our solar system which is located just four light years away, a small distance according to Astronomy. A light-year is the distance light travels in a year and estimated up to 9.46 trillion miles
The researchers say the new planet discovered orbiting at very close to the sun makes life impossible on its surface. The scientists estimated the temperature on the surface of the planet at about 1200 degrees Celsius. Previous studies indicate that when discovering a planet circling around the sun, usually there is a number of other planets in the same group.
Stefan Audrey and Javier Dumusquih from the Geneva Observatory in the scientific journal Nature, announced the discovery of a new planet which is comparable to the size of the Earth which revolves around one of the suns in the constellation Centaurs, about 40 trillion miles.
Audrey said, "This is a historic discovery because it has a very low mass is our closest neighbor." Commenting on the discovery, said Greg Wolin astronomer at the University of California, "This is our backyard (the land) .. discovering this planet is wonderful."
Since the discovery of the first planet from those planets outside our solar system in early nineties of the last century , 800 planets were discovered , but the new planet is the closest.
