It is being reported in BBC News that Pakistani troops have fired shots into the air to stop US troops crossing into the South Waziristan region of Pakistan. Official estimates are quoting Seven US helicopters landing on the Afghan side of the border and then the US troops tried to cross the border near the Afghan province of Paktika. Pakistani paramilitary soldiers at a checkpoint opened fire into the air and the US troops decided not to continue forward.

Initially this reactive response by paramilitary forces may seem to be uplifting for the people of Pakistan to actuall see someone standing up for the country, more importantly to actually see the Pakistan Army doing its job for once, but on a critical evaluation in light of the BBC report I suspect its all an orchestrated drama to salvage the cordial ties between the US and Pakistan, specially since the damaging report that George Bush had actually authorized an all out offensive in Pakistan. The world knows for a fact that the US with its abundant technology will simply walk over any meager resistance on the ground, so Im willing to call the bluff that this is just an eye-candy news story. That said, considering the low-key [small ammunition] affair, it could very well be an offensive by Afghanistan which Hamid Karazi has been itching to do for sometime.

I also read in the article that  20 innocent people were killed, including women and children. You cannot attack a sovereign country, just because you think they are harboring militants, this situation is no different than Iraq! .....Killing or war is not a game, the poor tribal people (men, women and children) are destitute they are the ones who have the  most to loose from these attacks!
