One person died Saturday in a fire at a hotel offering emergency accommodation at Armentieres (North), which also made several minor injuries, officials said with relief.
The fire broke out shortly after 7:00 p.m. on the second and top floor of the hotel that housed thirty people, including "homeless housed by social services", as well as foreigners "awaiting regularization," according a police source.
Five people were slightly injured, especially because of the smoke, and 21 people are to be resettled. These were initially directed to the mayor of Armentieres.
The fire was quickly extinguished using two spears. The hotel is located in a neighborhood renovation close to the station, was completely evacuated. Around midnight, the district found his composure, said a journalist from AFP.
The police Armentieres initially charge of the investigation, should be withdrawn in favor of the police in Lille.
