The jewel of peace , young Malala Yusufzai, 14, was hurt by gunfire from the Taliban, who accused her of defending Western ideas. The Pakistani army on his side Sunday reported "slow and steady progress" in restoring the young activist, even if it has not regained consciousness and remains under artificial respiration.

"A medical plane is ready to take off to evacuate Malala Pakistan for treatment abroad and we expect the arrangements," he added. The official did not say whether Pakistan would be evacuated to a hospital in the UAE but the Pakistani ambassador in Abu Dhabi told a private television in his country that the plane would take off with six doctors to remove the child to a facility in UAE.
