Bobbi Kristina Brown, daughter of late legend E! Online, Brown is heard telling her family, “We’re engaged!” in a preview for Lifetime's reality show "The Houstons: On Our Own.", has confirmed her engagement to adopted brother-turned-boyfriend Nick Gordon. According to a report on
Rumors started circulating in social-media circles in August that 19-year-old Brown was engaged to Gordon after she was given a ring by the 22-year-old. However, a representative for Brown denied the speculation and the couple claimed that the ring, a giant sapphire stone surrounded by diamonds, was just a gift.
Now a teaser of the new reality show allegedly confirms that the pair is engaged to be married. E! Online reported that Brown’s family didn’t take news of the engagement very well, as is seen in the exclusive clip obtained by the website.
Another clip from the Lifetime series shows the Houston clan flabbergasted after the announcement, with Gary Houston, Whitney's brother, involved in a heated discussion with Gordon. He says, “No one knew that from a godson you would turn into a boyfriend. No one knew that.”
In response to which Gordon says, “The family has me out to be a bad person.” Bobbi Kristina Brown adds, “They want to see us fail. We won't.”
Gordon was informally adopted by Whitney Houston when he was 12, after his father was put in prison and his mother couldn’t take care of him. The pair was raised as brother and sister and lived as such for more than a decade until Whitney’s death in February.
According to sources, the controversial pair was ''always close'' growing up, but their relationship took a romantic turn in the aftermath of the pop superstar's tragic death, and they started living like a couple at their house in Atlanta.
Whitney Houston was found dead in the bathtub of her hotel room on the eve of this year’s Grammy Awards at the age of 48. Her death was attributed to accidental drowning complicated by heart disease and cocaine use.
“The Houstons: On Our Own,” set to premiere on Oct. 24, chronicles the lives of the Houston family. According to a Lifetime press release, “Pat Houston, Whitney's sister-in-law, manager and most trusted confidant, manages the business and estate of the beloved singer and her most prized possession, her daughter Bobbi Kristina. The series will follow Pat and her husband, Gary, Whitney Houston's brother, as they take on their greatest challenge, supporting and guiding Bobbi Kristina as she faces the world alone, without the one person she relied on the most, her Mother.”
