10-years ago, on 12th of October 2002, a terrorist attack in a nightclub in Bali killed more than 200 persons.

On the 10th anniversary there are apprehensions from the Indonesian police that another terror attack might happen targeting the dignitaries who would be attending the memorial service.

The Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard was a potential target as intimated by the Deputy Police Chief of Bali.

This has been reported in nzherald.co.nz of dated 11th of October 2012.

A total of 202 people of different nationalities had lost their lives when a bomb ripped through a popular nightspot in downtown Kuta – the attack was just over a year after the 9/11 attack on the Twin Towers in New York.

As a precautionary measure more than 1500 police and military personal, including snipers, had been positioned in and around Jimbaran and Kuta.
