Last October 8, 2012, the crew aboard the USS Bonhomme Richard prepared their fighter jets and helicopters for the start of the Philippine and US Military annual amphibious exercise. This year, it is called Phiblex 2013.
The exercises will last twelve days in Northern Tarlac province. Last October 9, 2012, the 31st Marine Expeditionary unit, composed of 2,600 U.S. Marines and sailors joined their Philippine counterparts for mock helicopter raids. The exercises will focus on sea and land tactics along with humanitarian and disaster relief operations. During yesterday’s exercise, U.S. marines drove their humvees at Crow Valley while their CH-46 Sea Knight Helicopters dropped troops on a nearby location.
