Let the battle begin…

The blind auditions are over on “The Voice” and now the singers will have to battle it out in song to remain on the show and advance to the knockout rounds. This season the battle rounds have a little twist – the steal. Each coach gets two steals. If more than one coach pushes their button to steal a singer, then the singers gets to choose whose team they will join.

Helping each coach in mentoring the singers is an award winning superstar…
Adam had Mary J Blige
Blake had Michael Buble
Cee Lo had Matchbox twenty lead singer Rob Thomas
Christina had Green Day lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong

First up to sing were Casey Muessigmann and Terry McDermott from team Blake. The guys put their spin on the classic Kansas hit “Carry on Wayward Sun”. Christina called it a great battle and noted the guys brought it. Cee Lo agreed it was a great battle; adding the guys gave each other a run for their money. Adam was impressed saying the guys sounded great together. Blake said the guys did a great job, had a lot of power, and had a great voice. Blake chose Terry to remain on his team. While Casey was available to steal, none of the coaches chose him. Terry said that nothing could beat seeing his son watch his Dad win.

Next up was team Adam with Bryan Keith and Collin McLoughlin who performed the Subline song “Santeria”. Blake called the performance a lot of fun and noted how even though the guys had different voices, they were also similar. Christina said they sounded really good. Cee Lo like the approach the guys took. Adam loved the different energy and said it came down to the interpretation of the song. Adam chose Bryan Keith to remain on his team.

Collin did not have long to wait when Cee Lo and Blake both pushed their buttons for the first steal of the night. Collin chose to join Blake’s team.

Cee Lo chose Alaskan JR Aquino and Peruvian Diego Val to perform the classic 80’s hit by Rick Springfield “Jesse’s Girl”. Adam noted the guys were really battling and called the performance really entertaining. Blake said it was really great with great moments noting that the guys were top singers. Christina said that she had a log of fun watching the performance. Cee Lo noted that the guys brought character and charisma; adding the guys did an excellent job. Cee Lo chose Diego to remain on his team. No one chose to steal JR.

First up for team Christina was De’borah and Nigerian Nelly’s Echo performing The Police hit “Message in a Bottle”. During the rehearsals Billie Joe noted that it could be the best performance of the whole show. Cee Lo said that De’borah blew him away. Adam noted the pair had a vibe together; adding that he was proud of them. Blake noted that De’borah ramped it up throughout the song. Christina said they had heart; adding that she loved the experimentation and made the song their own. Christina chose De’borah to remain on her team. No one chose to steal Nelly’s Echo.

Team Blake’s second pairing was the mother/daughter duo of 2Steel Girls and the yodeling country girl Gracia Harrison performing the Dixie Chicks song “Sin Wagon”. Christina called the performance entertaining; adding that she enjoyed it a lot. Cee Lo said it was a great performance. Adam called the girls powerful singers; adding that he had so much fun watching them sing. Blake said that he had never seen anything like it; calling it a country throw down. Blake chose Gracia to remain on his team. No one chose to take 2Steel Girls.

The final performance of the night was from Amanda Brown and Trevin Hunte of team Cee Lo. Cee Lo chose “Vision of Love” by Mariah Carey for the pair to sing. The pair received a standing ovation for their performance. Adam was standing on his chair. Adam said that he didn’t care who Cee Lo chose because he was going to take the other one; adding they were why he was there. Blake said that he couldn’t think of one negative thing to say about the pair. Christina said it was the best performance so far hands down. Cee Lo said the pair was evenly matched and they impressed him. As Cee Lo was deciding on whom he would choose, the other three coaches had their hands on their buttons. Cee Lo chose to keep Trevin Hunte on his team.

As soon as host Carson Daly announced that Amanda was available for the steal, all three remaining coaches pushed their buttons. After comparing Amanda to Mariah, Aretha, and fellow coach Christina; Amanda chose to join Adam’s team.

Adam said, “I know how to steal, I’m a good thief.”

Tuesday’s performance brings more performances and coach’s steals.
