Two days after the Israel’s military fighter jets shot down a drone that penetrated the air space of Israel from the Mediterranean Sea and headed south, the Israeli air defense unit deployed a Patriot surface-to-air missile battery on Mount Carmel near Haifa, Ynet news said.
According to the army’s spokesman unit who confirmed the deployment of the Patriot battery, this is not an unusual thing. Channel 2 said the deployment came due to the possibility that further attempts would be made to send drones into Israeli air space, the Jerusalem Post reported.
Saturday morning, the Israeli Air Force downed an unmanned drone over the northern part of the Negev Desert, after it had been in the air over Israel’s territory for about 30 minutes. The Israeli army surveyed the area where the drone was downed in an effort to locate debris that could shed light on its origin and objective.
Israeli Ynet News reported that Israeli sources claimed Sunday that has recently received the drones, manufactured in Iran and Russia, from the Syrian army.
According to Israel's military intelligence, Hezbollah is responsible for the appearance of the drone in the Israeli air space. It began to fly from Lebanon and entered the Israeli territory from the sea before crashing in an area located between Hebron, in the southern part of the West Bank, and the nearby town of Yatta.
Security analysts say regarding the purpose of the flight, the main objective was to play a psychological role against Israel and show that other countries could enter Israeli territory.
Meanwhile, Al -Myadin TV Channel, which is close to Hezbollah, said that the drone managed to penetrate to a depth of 100 km inside Israel, causing tensions and fear to Israelis, who are celebrating a religious festivals these days. Nearly three months ago, on July 20, said in a speech: "The resistance movement will surprise Tel Aviv in a future war."
So far Hezbollah has not announced responsibility for this act and at the same time neither has the military sources nor any other source in the Israeli media announced a culprit in finding this drone. Despite the tension between Israel and Gaza Strip, most of the Israeli media are still talking about the subject of the drone. Some analysts said that what happened is considered a complete strategic fiasco for Israel’s intelligence and military apparatus.
In response to Saturday's violation of Israeli air space, four Israeli fighter jets flew over southern Lebanon Monday morning at a low altitude. Supersonic booms were reported from the planes in a number of locations. The jets were accompanied by several helicopters, reached the airspace over the coastal city of Sidon, the Lebanese news agency reported.
I did not think that this incident would lead to all this madness in the Israeli military leadership, which was hit by fear and shock, while Israel is threatening Tehran every day with a military strike against its nuclear reactors.
I was right in my analysis that Israel will not direct any strike at Tehran by itself. However, Israel is always in need of those who help, the reason being that it does not want to bear the Iranian reactions alone.
I think that the drone was in an attempt to reach the Israeli Dimona nuclear reactor in the Negev, and perhaps this drone was launched to examine the area of the reactor, in order to bomb it at a later stage.
When former U.S. President Richard Nixon said to the former Israeli prime minister in 1973 that his administration admires the strategy of the Israeli military, the reaction of the Israeli military leadership toward the incident of the drone proves that he was not right at all, because Israel today has better weapons than it owned in 1973, but its air defense failed to discover a drone that flew for 30 minutes inside its air space, so I wonder how will Israel detect missiles coming from Tehran??
In fact, those who did this act are able to mark a moral victory, whether it is Hezbollah, Iran or any Palestinian resistance group, because they were able to prove the weakness and inefficiency of the defense system of Israel.
