The lid on liberal rage seemed to have blown off after Wednesday's debate. The piling on the president is still in full swing and it would not be so bad if it was just the conservative media gloating.
What makes it so painful for incumbent Obama is the liberal media" Republicans like to accuse of being so far left in his corner are the ones piling on the condemnation.
Like this MSNBC host, who I thought I would never hear rail this derisively against his idol. Host of Hardball, Chris Matthews has been the brunt of many jokes for what critics call his "bromance" with President Obama. Suffice it to say he loved his president.
But after watching last night's presidential debate in Denver, Matthews exploded about Obama's performance. (Click on above video to see the tidal wave of emotional disappointment).
Speaking to fellow liberal MSNBC host Rachael Maddox, Matthews was decidedly unhappy, saying things like, "There was no Bobby Kennedy in the green room beforecame out tonight--I don't know what he was doing out there, he had his head down like he was enduring the debate rather than fighting it."
The tongue whipping of the president didn't stop there,"Romney on the other hand had a plan--he was going to dominate the time, he was going to be aggressive, he was going to push the moderator around, which he did effectively; he was going to relish the evening and enjoy it--nothing to do with the words he spoke."
The usually animated host was even more animated, if that is possible as his angst continued to boil over, "Here is my question for Obama, I know he likes to say he doesn't watch cable television--well maybe he should start--maybe he should start." Here he said this phrase twice for emphasis.
"I don't know how he let Romney get away with the crap he threw out about Social Security." There Matthews explained what "the crap" was that Romney was selling as cake. Something about big bad Mittens secretly plotting to squeeze little old ladies and throw out the provision for pre-existing conditions being covered by the greedy insurance companies.
There were four other commentators, including the Rev., squeezed in on the television monitor via satellite, who couldn't get a word in edgewise, for Matthews was on a rampaging roll.
"Why didn't Obama say that--why didn't he talk about the emergency room?" he added. Meaning Romney's solution to repealing "Obamacare" would be that emergency rooms across American serve as the uninsured "healthcare provider."
Matthews was beside himself for what he sees as Obama rolling over and letting Romney, his lies and vague conjectures trample all ove him.
Easy there Matt; does the phrase "divide and conquer" mean anything to you? While many might not be high-fiving Obama's performance against Mr. Money, Shady Romney, you still have to support the guy unless you're planning to jump to the other side?
Judging by the smirks and smiles every time he lied, you might not want to join team Mittens just yet. Don't forget we have two more rounds to go and cold hard facts do not change just because one was better at grandstanding.
