The Philippine Embassy in Kuala Lumpur said that Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) Governor Mujiv S. Hataman paid a courtesy call on Malaysian Deputy Foreign Minister Datuk Richard Riot Anak Jaem on October 3 at the latter’s office at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Putrajaya. Governor Hataman apprised the Deputy Foreign Minister on the growing interest by foreign investors on investment potentials in Mindanao, in line with the pro-active efforts of the Philippine Government, the ARMM Regional Government and the Mindanao Development Authority in promoting trade and investments in the region. He also invited Malaysian businessmen and women to seriously consider investments in Mindanao, particularly on palm oil, agribusiness, halal food and tourism infrastructure. Deputy Foreign Minister Riot welcomed the Governor’s initiative, and reaffirmed the Malaysian Government’s support for the economic development of Mindanao and the peace process in the region. Joining the call were Ambassador J. Eduardo Malaya, Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Undersecretary for Southeast Asia Division Amran Mohamed Zain, First Secretary and Consul Maria Antonina Mendoza-Oblena and Attaché Zaide Castro-Fuerzas.
