COMMENT: Father of three stabbed to death

IT'S shocking, evil and out of order. Dungannon is a town which has always had its fair share of the Troubles but this act of vileness takes us beyond belief.

Eamonn Hughes was well known to many. He spent Friday night with his daughter - celebrating her 18th birthday. A group of thugs who were refused entry into the private party turned to the most vile acts possible. These 'people' and I use that term losely - waited for this man - hunted him down and tortured him in front of his family using knives and crossbows.

The details of this crime which are circulating locally would make any decent human being feel sick to the stomach. These people are sick.

The people of Dungannon are rallying around to support the Hughes family and will today hold a vigil. I hope anyone who knows who these 'thugs' are will provide the police with vital evidence which will get them into the courtroom so their faces can be looked at by the entire community with disgust. Let's hope the judge will send them down for this henious crime!! The Hughes family deserve justice. Eamonn Hughes was protecting his family - what father wouldn't!!
